Meek Mill ft. Rick Ross - Believe It

Who woulda thought you'd be hearing Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber's names dropped on a hook on a Rick Ross, Meek Mill song. We'll here we are. Meek leaked another track off of his forthcoming debut album Dreams and Nightmares titled "Believe It" with MMG head honcho Rick Ross on the hook. Give it a listen and be on the lookout for the album dropping October 30th.

e-dubble - Down (Official Video)

'

Fresh off the release of his latest single "Two Steps From Disaster" e-dubble releases the first single off of his upcoming EP Reset, entitled "Down". There's tons of indie hip-hop artists making a lot of noise in the industry these days. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis made it to the #2 spot on the Billboard charts with The Heist. G-Eazy killed it with the release of his debut album Must Be Nice, and now e-dubble is making a charge to become the next great indie hip-hop success story. Check out his latest single above and be on the lookout for more coming from e-dubble very soon leading up to the release of the Reset EP. The video is the brainchild of A.P. Fischer, who collaborated with e-dubble to bring you an introspective set of visuals that compliment e-dubbles lyricism and powerful voice perfectly. Enjoy.

Life & Rhymes: Kendrick Lamar

If you haven't checked out Kendrick Lamar's major label debut album good kid, m.A.A.d city yet I truly don't know whats wrong with you. It's undoubtedly one of the albums of the year and is already being hailed as an instant classic. The concept of the album is incredible, the entire project reads like a book. It's from the perspective of Kendrick as a teenager and follows him through a day in the life in Compton. Google Play recently did a feature on he and his TDE crew. Kendrick, Jay Rock, Soul, Q and the whole TDE crew dish on how they came up, and how it all started for them. Check it out above and go buy a copy of one of the best rap albums of the year, good kid, m.A.A.d city, now.

Meek Mill - Dreams and Nightmares (Intro)

I've been slacking pretty hard for the past week or so, life has been hectic but I promise that will end. This is one I should've posted yesterday but neglected to. Meek Mill's debut album Dreams and Nightmares drops on October 30th, and yesterday he dropped the Intro to the album. This might just be one of the best tracks I've heard from Meek lately, only gets me more pumped for the full album release. Take a listen to the intro below and enjoy.

G-Eazy - The Life & Times Of Young Gerald Ep. 1

G-Eazy just dropped the first episode of his brand new video blog series that follows him as he tours across the country following the release of his debut album Must Be Nice. This first episode sees G and his crew roll through New York for his first headlining show at the famed Webster Hall. G-Eazy has blown up really fast but the thing I respect most about him is it's all about the artistry. His album was extremely well put together and took the top album spot on the iTunes charts upon its release. If you haven't checked out Must Be Nice yet, do so immediately. You can download it for free via G-Eazy's website or support him and grab a copy on iTunes.

Local Natives - Breakers

Wanted to post this a few days ago when it first came out but the youtube video wouldn't embed, so here it is now. Local Natives released their newest track "Breakers" the other day, and at the same time they announced the details of their next album, Hummingbird, which will be released on January 29th and feature a total of 11 tracks. Press play on the new single in the video above and get a taste of what you can expect off of the album. Enjoy.

Futuristic - Listen To Me (Pink Matter Remix)

It's been a little while since I've posted some of Futuristic's work, but there was absolutely no way I could pass this one up. In what is easily his best track to date, Futuristic delivers some deep, introspective lyrics over the instrumental from Frank Ocean's Channel Orange cut "Pink Matter". You've never heard Futuristic like this before, and it just further proves how real his talent really is. Give the song a listen above and download it via his website below. Enjoy.

Aer - Songbird (Official Video)

Aer released the official video for one of the standout tracks off of their recently released album The Bright Side that shot to the top of the iTunes album charts in it's first few days on the shelves. These two just keep making bigger and bigger strides in the music business, their album was unreal and they've been touring across the country since it's release. Their Matt MiGGZ directed videos are always top notch, check the new one out above and head over to iTunes to grab your own copy of The Bright Side if you haven't already.

A$AP Rocky - Fuckin' Problem (ft. 2 Chainz, Drake & Kendrick Lamar)

A$AP Rocky promised a new track would drop today and kept true to his word and released this star-studded track "Fuckin' Problem". Rocky goes in over some heavy Noah '40' Shebib production alongside 2 Chainz, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar. Rocky has done everything right thus far in his career, every single he dropped has been unreal. There's not much else left to say, press play below and enjoy, LONGLIVEA$AP is coming soon.

UPDATE:Rocky released the song for download on his Twitter, download it here

Sol - Stage Dive

Not a new track but one I just recently heard and havent been able to stop playing. This beat is literally spot on for what I'm looking for on a day like today, just great, feel-good music. Sol is a rapper out of Seattle, something about Seattle just breeds great hip-hop. From Blue Scholars to Macklemore now Sol, you can't go wrong. If you know the song, listen to it again. If you haven't heard it yet, check it out below and check out Sol's entire Yours Truly EP on iTunes now.

Meek Mill - Maybach Curtains ft. Nas, John Legend & Rick Ross

I was holed up in the library yesterday so I missed out on the release of this track, but Meek Mill released a highly anticipated single off of his forthcoming album Dreams and Nightmares. The track features some serious heavy hitters in Nas, Rick Ross and John Legend. Unfortunately every part of the song is perfect...except for Meek's verse. Slower, soulful beats like this just don't work with his flow, he struggles through the whole thing and it just sounds like he's talking. After that it's dope though, Nas shows why he's one of the greatest (if not the greatest) of all time and Rick Ross is right at home on the slower instrumental. I don't think there's ever been a criticism of John Legend, his voice works really well with the MMG sound as well. Check out the stream of the track below, Dreams and Nightmares drops on October 30th.

Muse - Starlight (Hyperbits Remix)

It's been a little while since I've posted a new track from the NYC progressive house duo known as Hyperbits, but Fairfield alum Serik Slobodskoy and Robert Palliser just released their newest remix to Muse's "Starlight" and it blew me away. I'm usually one to favor more airy house tracks over heavier, bass filled electro drops but for some reason this remix really pulled me in. The build-up with the Muse vocals is unbelievable and leads to a heavy drop that is really doing it for me. Spotted this one posted over at the Dancing Astronaut, which is huge for these two. DA is one of the biggest electronic music blogs on the internet. These two are making some moves. Check out the newest remix and download it for free below. Enjoy.

Wiz Khalifa - Cabin Fever 2 (Mixtape)

Wiz's latest mixtape offering comes in the form of the second installment in his Cabin Fever series. If you remember, the last Cabin Fever mixtape was released prior to his first album and featured much heavier, less pop-influenced tracks. I'm in the library and haven't had a chance to give most of the tracks a listen but judging by the plethora of Juicy J features, I'm guessing this installment will be very similar in feel. His last few singles have been dope so we'll see if he can carry this momentum through to his sophomore album ONIFC which is dropping in December. Stream and download the mixtape in full below.

Outasight ft. Chiddy - Shine (Official Video)

Outasight's newest banger comes in the form of a bass heavy track alongside Philly's own Chiddy of Chiddy Bang. Outasight has been able to gain a ton of mainstream buzz and commercial interest in an extremely short time, the last few months have been huge for him. I've heard his songs on the radio, commercials, walking around in stores, the man is everywhere. This is his latest single which dropped yesterday on iTunes and today gets the visual treatment. It's got Outasight's classic pop/hip-hop feel with a really catchy hook and solid verses from he and Chiddy. Check out the video above and grab the track on iTunes now.

e-dubble - Two Steps From Disaster

E-dubble has to be one of the most underrated rappers in the blog scene today. He went on a run like no one else can last year when he did his freestyle friday series where he dropped a new freestyle every friday for over 50 straight weeks. His last few singles have been really dope, but it's been a while since he's dropped anything new. He broke his silence today when he dropped his newest track "Two Steps From Disaster". It's another strong track from e-dub, you can never go wrong with new material from him. Check it out below, e-dubble's new EP is on the way. Enjoy.

e-dubble: Facebook // Twitter

Two Door Cinema Club - Sun (Gigamesh Remix)

Gigamesh puts his own spin on the second single off of Two Door Cinema Club's new album "Beacon". He puts his own dance/funk vibe on it and it sounds great. Those vocals can pretty much sound good over anything, especially some really clean Gigamesh production. Stream the remix for yourself below and enjoy. Also if you haven't heard the original cut it's below as well.

Steve Angello & Third Party - Lights

Steve Angello and Third Party's newest MASSIVE track was previewed by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1 yesterday and Size records released a stream of it online. It's a progressive house banger that will be getting it's official Beatport release on October 26th. Give it a lsiten below and be on the lookout for the full release. Enjoy.

Flatbush Zombies - The Hangover

It's been a while since we've heard some fresh new material from the out-of-the-box Brooklyn duo known as the Flatbush Zombies, but they just dropped a new cut titled "The Hangover" produced by their producer Erick Arc Elliot. Not my favorite hook I've heard from them but the verses are more than solid, and the the beat has a trippy, jazz feel that I'm definitely feeling. Check it out below and download it courtesy of illRoots. Enjoy.

Kendrick Lamar - Backseat Freestyle (Prod. Hit-Boy)

The drop date for Kendrick's major label debut album Good Kid m.A.A.d City is only a few days away and yesterday he gave BBC radio the go ahead to debut a new track off the album, "Backseat Freestyle" produced by Hit-Boy. I've said countless times how good this album is going to be, Kendrick can do no wrong in my eyes these days. This track is another example of why Kendrick is so good, his lyricism is unmatched and he kills this bass-heavy Hit-Boy production. Give it a listen below and pre-order Good Kid m.A.A.d City now.

Mac Miller - These Dayz (Dope Awprah)

It seems like ever since Mac got himself a soundcloud account we've gotten more and more tracks from him that he just decides to drop at random times. The other day he revealed the title for his upcoming sophomore album, which will be called Watching Movies With The Sound Off. He also revealed that his collab project with Pharrell Pink Slime will be released by the end of the year. This track is definitely different than anything we've heard from Mac, it gets pretty wild around the halfway mark and continues to get weirder from there. Here's what Mac himself had to say about it:
"If you listen closely, I'm singing opera in the background of the whole song. There are no limitations. Also this speech at the end of this shit is epic and real for the world to comprehend yet. I was just on some other shit, no sleep, up making music all night and I just decided to take this song to places that songs have never been before"
Not sure If it's the drugs talking or what but this is Mac like you've never heard him before. The self produced beat is unreal though, give it a listen below.

Eric Prydz - Every Day (Original Mix)

Eric Prydz's massive new track "Every Day" just released and it's another banger from the London based, Swedish producer. The vocals on this track make it, this is definitely a must download. There's not much else to say, check it out for yourself and download it below.

Dom Kennedy ft. Tyga & Juicy J - My Type Of Party (Remix)

LA native Dom Kennedy and his OPM crew just release their first mixtape titled Young Nation, and Dom recently dropped the remix to his track "My Type Of Party" with verses from fellow LA resident Tyga, and Juicy J. Dom Kennedy is easily one of the most underrated rappers out right now, if you haven't checked out The Yellow Album which he released earlier this year you're missing out. This remix is dope, the kicks in the beat are perfect and all three MC's kill it. Give it a listen and download it below.

Nas - A Queens Story (Official Video)

Nas just released this rough street video as the official video for his track "A Queens Story" off of his latest full length Life Is Good. He takes you back to his old neighborhood of Queens in a video directed by his little brother. No gimmicks in this one, just Nas and his crew hanging around their old stomping grounds and paying respects to some lost friends. Check it out above and grab the album on iTunes if you haven't already.

D-WHY - Ballad Of An Asshole (Official Video)

D-WHY released the official video for his track "Ballad Of An Asshole" the other day off his debut free album Don't Flatter Yourself. The track is a harder hitting hip-hop track produced by one of the biggest producers in hip-hop right now, Hit-Boy. D-WHY explained the full concept of the video, which he co-directed with the one and only Jakob Owens, on his website so I'll let him do the talking:

“Ballad of an Asshole”…soak in that title for a second. The sheer ignorance and arrogance might be enough to get someone to listen to the song (and watch the video). It’s both funny and memorable. I think so, anyway. However, let’s think about that title for a second. The word ‘ballad’ has been traditionally used and associated with folk music and tales that are passed down generations in song form. Those songs are typically tales of tribulation and struggle, and are written to find a common ground between songwriter and listener and, more importantly, to tell real life situations and stories. These are the same reasons why I wrote this song. Sure, being an “asshole” may seem funny and ‘cool’—but it’s really not. The words ‘Don’t Flatter Yourself’ are as much about me looking in the mirror as they are a cocky, profound album title. Sometimes—admittedly—I’m an asshole. Sometimes it’s out of necessity, sometimes it’s on accident. Sometimes it feels good, sometimes it doesn’t. This song was written to celebrate those moments. The frustration, the anger, the ignorance, the arrogance. It’s a battle cry. It’s an attempt to champion those times when you just are an asshole.

Wiz Khalifa - Runways (Freestyle)

With the release of his newest mixtape Cabin Fever 2 coming within the day, Wiz just dropped this newest freestyle over the beat from Drake's "Cameras" off Take Care. Definitely similar to the past few freestyle videos Wiz has released but it's a solid verse as always. Be on the lookout for Cabin Fever 2 dropping at 3 pm tomorrow and Wiz's sophomore album ONIFC is coming December 4th.

Kanye West - White Dress

Last week was an off week for me to say the least so I've got a few things to post that I'm a little late on. This new Kanye track had to be the first song I posted this week, it's his newest single and is from the soundtrack to the new Quentin Tarantino film that RZA is doing the score for. If this doesn't get you pumped for Kanye's upcoming solo album I don't know what will. The soulful, jazzy sounding sample reminds me of old-school, College Dropout era Kanye which is never a bad thing. Check it out, my guess is it'll be on iTunes eventually but enjoy the stream for now.

Alesso ft. Matthew Koma - Years (Official Video)

The visuals for Alesso's latest collaboration with vocalist Matthew Koma, "Years", were just released and it's a mindfuck of a video that chronicles Alesso's rise from a 10 year old being gifted his first piano to playing the mainstage at EDC in New York this past summer. Buy the track on iTunes now if you haven't already.

French Montana - It Was A Good Year ft. Mac Miller & Curren$y

French Montana tackles Ice Cube's instrumental from "Today Was A Good Day" and flips it to "It Was A Good Year". He gets assisting verses from Mac and Curren$y, just a perfect track to relax to. Check it out and grab the download below.

Purity Ring - Belispeak II ft. Danny Brown

Purity Ring re-released their single "Belispeak" yesterday with an assisting verse from buzzing rapper Danny Brown. Danny Brown is really hit or miss for me, his flow just doesn't do it for me over certain instrumentals but this beat with the trippy, indie vibe works perfectly with his flows. Definitely a track to check out, give it a listen above and enjoy.

Meek Mill ft. Big Sean - Burn (Official Video)

I've been wild busy these past few days so I've been slacking hard with updates but bear with me for the next few days. Today Meek Mill and Big Sean released the visuals for arguably the track of the summer in "Burn". This is easily one of the better tracks we've gotten to date from both Sean and Meek. Meek Mill's debut album Dreams and Nightmares drops October 30th. Enjoy.

Ellie Goulding - Stay Awake (Prod. Madeon)

Ellie Goulding links up with French EDM prodigy Madeon for her latest single fresh off the release of here latest full length project Halcyon. Her voice just works over any genre of instrumental, and the beat on this one is unreal. Listen and download below.

Rick Ross - The Black Bar Mitzvah (Mixtape)

Today is a damn good day for music, just not the best for free music. Debut albums from two of the most promising rising rappers Macklemore & MGK have released. Head over to iTunes to buy MGK's Lace Up and Macklemore's The Heist right now if you know whats good for you. Rick Ross also just recently released his latest mixtape titled The Black Bar Mitzvah. Probably some of the most ridiculous cover art I've seen in quite some time with Rozay's face put right in the star of David. Pretty sure that is something I can confidently say I never thought I'd see in my entire life. Features on the tape include Drake, Pharrell, Diddy, and more. Give it a listen, and download it below.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - The Heist (Album Stream)

Woke up to a pretty damn good surprise, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis gave NPR the go ahead to release a stream of their highly anticipated debut album The Heist. Gotta love indie artists supporting independent radio. This album speaks for itself, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are one of, if not the best producer/rapper duo out. Features on the album include ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and more. The production from Ryan is unbelievable and Macklemore's lyrics and flow are as fresh as ever. I can't see there being any way this doesn't go down as one of the albums of the year. Click the link below to stream the full album and enjoy. The Heist officially drops on the 9th.

Smoke DZA - K.O.N.Y. (Mixtape)

Harlem rapper Smoke DZA releases his latest project, a free mixtape titled K.O.N.Y. DZA has been impressing me with everything he's done so far. The other day I posted a video for his track with A$AP Twelvy off of his Rugby Thompson EP which has been on repeat ever since I rediscovered the EP. He teams up with Rugby Thompson producer Harry Fraud and many more for this tape. Features include Big K.R.I.T., King Chip, Ab-Soul, Joey Bada$$ and many more. Stream it in full and download it below. Enjoy.

YONAS - Don't Give A Damn (Official Video)

Missed the drop on this video a few days ago, but Yonas dropped the highly anticipated video for his track "I Don't Give A Damn" the other day and it's dope. He's been killing it recently, his videos always garner tons of publicity. This one amassed over 35,000 views in it's first 24 hours. Yonas is currently on tour with Aer on The Bright Side Tour and recently inked a deal with 1st Round Records so it's only looking up for him. As he says, poised to bring content back to popular music. Check out the video above and click the link below to download his Transition mixtape if you haven't already.

Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding - I Need Your Love

Ellie Goulding's new album Halcyon drops next Tuesday and a few of the tracks have already found their way online, including this huge collaboration with super producer Calvin Harris. Ellie's voice is unbelievable and this song should definitely get her the North American radio presence she deserves. The upbeat electro-pop production from Calvin Harris is dope, and Ellie's vocals would pretty much sound good over anything. Give it a listen and download it below. This song is also going to have a home on Calvin Harris' upcoming project 18 Months which is set for release at the end of October.

Ne-Yo - Don't Make Em Like You ft. Wiz Khalifa

Ne-Yo just dropped the latest track off of his upcoming album R.E.D. with an assisting verse from Wiz Khalifa. Pretty standard track from both of them but I can see this one getting some solid radio play in the future. It seems like anything with Ne-Yo's vocals on it is an instant radio hit. No download available for this one yet but you can stream it below.

Kendrick Lamar - Swimming Pools (Live on Jimmy Fallon)

Kendrick has been all over the site recently and deservedly so. Last night he made his late night tv debut on Jimmy Fallon's show and performed his single "Swimming Pools (Drank)" with a little help from The Roots. Kendrick kills it with Questlove on the background vocals. Good Kid, m.A.A.d City drops October 22nd.

Bassnectar - Freestyle (Mixtape)

Bassnectar released his latest mixtape today in anticipation of forthcoming EP which will be dropping on October 16th. Dubstep has kind of fallen off in my eyes, but Lorin is one of the pioneers of the genre and any new material from him is a gift. Check out the 42 minute long mixtape below, and you can download it for free. Enjoy.

Captain Midnite - Ashes Rising ft. Kyle Lucas & OnCue

Singer/Producer Captain Midnite releases his latest track off of his upcoming All This Will Fade. This time he gets some assistance from both Kyle Lucas and OnCue over this slower, slightly dark instrumental. I don't think I've ever disliked a track with Cuey on it and I'm not starting now, check this one out below.

Pretty Lights - So Bright

Just going to let Derek himself do the talking on this one, can never complain about a new Pretty Lights track, here's what he had to say:

"A new track from my upcoming record has leaked out unintentionally. The song is called So Bright. I was not ready to put this song out but somehow its now posted on multiple sites as well as for sale on multiple sites. I made it available for free download just now on the PL site because it has never been my intention to strictly sell any tracks off of my new record...All the samples used in the track are from self-composed one of a kind vinyl pressings. There is a short documentary to be released soon about the making of this upcoming PL album because it was a very unique and laborious process. I'm insanely excited to release the record but....I'd prefer to do it on my own terms :). Much Love to all PL family, I hope you enjoy the track."

ZZ Ward - Cryin' Wolf ft. Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick doesn't choose his collaborators lightly, so whenever I see his name featured on a song it's definitely something that is more than worth a listen. I've never heard of ZZ Ward, but I couldn't pass up listening to this song. Her voice is pretty incredible, it has a bluesy feel to it, and over a beat with a Jazzy hip-hop feel it's dope. Kendrick is Kendrick so you know his input to any song is going to be dope. Give this track a listen and download it below, you can preorder ZZ's newest album on iTunes now and click the link below to check out her latest mixtape. Spotted this one over at FITA.

KiD CuDi - King Wizard

Here's the latest leak off of Cudi's upcoming album Indicud which is his return to rapping. This is another self-produced track from Scott, and it definitely has a darker feel to it which is in keeping with the previous song we heard from the album, "Just What I Am". Cudi's flow does have that old-school cudi feel to it though, Indicud is coming soon. Enjoy.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Same Love ft. Mary Lambert (Official Video)

Macklemore's videos have always been something much more than just a simple music video. These short films have storylines that match the depth and meaning of his lyrics so perfectly, and his newest one is pretty incredible. It's for he and Ryan Lewis' song with Mary Lambert "Same Love" which advocates for marriage equality. All of the proceeds from selling the song on iTunes go towards the fight for marriage equality in the state of Washington and beyond. Macklemore may just be the best storyteller in music right now, he and Ryan Lewis' debut album The Heist is dropping October 9th. Go grab this song on iTunes now and preorder the full album, behind Kendrick's album this is probably my most highly anticipated project of the year.

Tuesday, October 2, 2012

Kendrick Lamar - Compton ft. Dr. Dre

Kendrick's album Good Kid, m.A.A.d City drops on the 22nd and last night he leaked probably the most anticipated track off the album, "Compton" alongside Dr. Dre over classic Just Blaze production. Kendrick is hands down my favorite rapper out right now and I've said countless times how dope this next album is going to be. Pre-order it on iTunes now and check out the single above.

Mayor Hawthorne - No Strings (RAC Remix)

The production crew who brought you arguably the song of the summer in "Hollywood" are back with their latest remix. This time they've decided to go in on Mayer Hawthorne's track "No Strings". RAC's sound is so unique and they seamlessly blend influences of jazz and funk with more modern electro and indie elements and it's always a hit. Check out this remix and download it for free below.

The Griswolds - Heart Of A Lion EP

If you didn't check out the two singles off of this EP that were released this summer you've been seriously missing out. The Griswolds, the Australian indie band who caught me and Sean's ears with their "Mississippi" single have been killing it recently, touring Australia leading up to the release of their debut EP Heart Of A Lion. I haven't disliked a single song I've heard from this group yet, and this EP is another major success for the group. Their sound is really catchy, and their music is incredibly easy to listen to. Check out the full EP below and head over to iTunes to buy the full project for an extremely low price of $2.99. Pretty tough to pass that up. Enjoy.

Danny Brown - Grown Up (ATG Remix)

Danny Brown's "Grown Up" has to be one of my favorite songs, and videos in recent memory. If you haven't seen the official video featuring mini Danny Brown you're missing out so hard. The beat on "Grown Up", produced by Party Supplies had that classic, 90's hip-hop feel to it that I couldn't get enough of. This remix is definitely different, with a more electronic feel that pretty much flips the original on it's head, but I'm really feeling it. Danny Brown's quirky flow works over a ridiculously large variety of instrumentals but I definitely didn't see this track getting remixed like this. Have to give credit to ATG for stepping out of the box and making it work really well, give it a listen and download it below. Spotted this one over at Pigsandplanes.

Smoke DZA ft. A$AP Twelvy - Game 7 (Official Video)

Smoke DZA is a dude who I have admittedly not been up on as much as I should have been in recent months. I've been a fan since I first heard him, but never really looked into his solo shit much. I more just heard his features on other peoples projects (he's had a few features with StagsFlow favorite Uno Hype to name one) but his solo album Rugby Thompson with Harry Fraud was unreal. He just released the official video for his track with A$AP Mob member A$AP Twelvy and it's fits the tough track perfectly. Twelvy is another dude to lookout for, Rocky gets the most exposure of any of the mob but Twelvy and A$AP Ferg have been making big charges of their own. Check out the video above and click the link below to download Rugby Thompson on iTunes.
