A Goodbye Post

Well folks, the time has come for me to step away from the scene. When I started Stags Flow in late August of last summer I had two main goals in mind. My first goal was to create a quality music providing music that served as a platform for new artists to spread their music, connecting with college students across the country. The second was to create a concert at Fairfield U with some of the rising stars in the college music scene. I'd like to say I think both of those goals have been achieved. During my senior year of college I ended up having one of the best years of my life. I was able to connect with tons of college artists across the scene and create relationships that I will have for the rest of my life. I've been fortunate enough to help artists like Timeflies, Collin McLoughlin, Trey Palms, KAM Royal, Dave Patten, Joe Cool, Fortune Family, Young Prince, Eddy B & Tim Gunter, and etc. further promote their careers. I have also made friendships with these artists and others (sorry if I didn't mention) that have further proved my love for music. 


While I am leaving (don't worry I'll be making a few surprise posts once in a while), the site couldn't be in better hands with Deane Flow, Dice Flow, Doe Flow, and Obey Flow. I am rehabilitating my knee right now and working on gaining a job at ESPN in New York City. With Deane Flow leading the way, Stags Flow will further become a leading college music platform on the scene. I just want to thank everyone for visiting the site frequently and being loyal fans of the site. Without all your guys support, Stags Flow wouldn't be where it is today. Skyzoo - Atypical

If you haven't heard of Skyzoo, I suggest that you listen to this song. This guy can definitely rap and the title of the song tells all about his style. His flow is super smooth over this beat and it'll have you bobbing your head, I guarantee you. Call it atypical.

Skizzy Mars isn't a name that you've seen on the site before, but that will definitely change. This track entitiled "Profound" is a more laid back track, Skizzy flows ridiculously smooth over a sick chill beat. Wale - The Cloud ft. Tiara Thomas Official Video

Here we have some new visuals from Wale for his track "The Cloud" off of his More About Nothing Mixtape. Saw this one over at Pigeonsandplanes and they threw in a quote from wale himself about how he still films his videos independently even though he has a major label backing him in MMG. He said, "Thats just the vibe now, and, you know, death to the million dollar video." Personally, I'm all for it but you can decide that one for yourself. 20 year old Talay Riley from East London. Another one of my many British finds, this song kind of hooked me and I wasn't expecting but its catchy as all hell. I think the ladies will like this one more but I'm throwing in the Roksonix remix in there too for a little variation.So give both versions a listen and let me know what you guys think of this guy! First off I want to apologize to our readers, we've been slacking over here at stagsflow for the past few days but that will definitely not become a trend. Chiddy Bang - Peanut Butter and Swelly Mixtape

Chiddy Bang's 'Peanut Butter and Swelly' is finally here after a week long tease of them releasing one of the songs every day. The mixtape starts off with a sample from Matt and Kim's 'Cameras' and does not lose steam from there on out. I do not think it is an overstatement to say Xaphoon Jones is one of the freshest and most talented producers making music currently. Although Chidera absolutely kills most of the tracks on this mixtape the one criticism I have is he doesn't really change around his flow/delivery and a lot of the verses seem almost interchangeable. Ultimately this is a mixtape that you will absolutely want to download and will be banging out a lot of the tracks for weeks to come.

Goldenwest - Always a Party

Just recently heard of these guys and I already love them, then I saw them on the real world and I was surprised. They are definitely going to go places.Their music is hard to find but this beat is so good. It's perfect for summer. They have a little mgmt/passion pit back sound which I love. They're verses are also great. Give them a listen and let me know what you think.

Gabriel Stark - Beautiful

Just stumbled across this gem of a track on GMAD. I haven't heard much, or anything for that matter, about Gabriel Stark before but judging by this track that is going to change. This track, which he wrote as an ode to his female fans, is off of his upcoming project entitled Starky Hendrix and it features a sick sample of Train's classic hit "Meet Virginia". IanJ - I'm Gone

So we've got a little Stags Flow exclusive drop for you today. In the recent months IanJ has been getting a lot of attention. Paving his way into the pop-rap genre, Ian has been blowing up on blogs across the country. As he is working on new music, he sent over a blast from the past to hold us over. If you've heard Ian's music before he produced this track himself while messing around on his Mac back during the "Lettermans & Wayfarers" days. Ian provides a perfect combination of singing and rapping that culminates into a smooth track. With a melodic hook, smooth rhymes, and catchy Owl City sounding sample, Ian provides a track that is perfect for the summertime. So I guess being in the right place or on Twitter at the right time has its advantages. Well that's the case for me today, as my timeline on Twitter refreshed I noticed this gem from Collin McLoughlin. As you guys already know I'm a huge fan of Collin's. He was the first artist I had in mind for StagStock 2011 (which he absolutely crushed) because I think he's a force to be reckoned with in the game. Now he has his fare share of dance party bangers, but the reason I'm a huge fan of Collin's is because he's got one of the best voices I have ever heard. This new track illustrates that to a T. So this joint "Racks on Racks" by Young Chris feat. Future has been a club banger. Well my main man Rob Suggs aka New Era just sent over his remix "Tats on Tats", which is about none other than Tattoos. This remix is extremely dope and is definitely on that banger status. New Era has a real dope flow and insane lyricism. Video was shot by Jakob Owens, who is one of the illest video producers I've seen in a while. P-Holla - Feeling Alright Ft. IanJ

Gotta give it up to my boys Kris and MatthewFlow, who just added P-Holla (definitely talented) to their crew of dope new talent. I know I'm a little late on this one, but this jam is an absolute gem. Pat Gibson (P-Holla), is a Senior at Northwestern. He has been part of a group called, C-Zoo, which has open for artists such as MGK and Chip Tha Ripper. Sampling a little Blink-182, P-Holla spits some insanely dope rhymes, with an up-tempo catchy chorus. IanJ comes in on the third verse and you know what to expect from him, straight fire. IanJ is just a rising star and I'm glad to be along for the ride. Favorite part of the track is towards the end of Ian's verse when the chorus switches up, just flows soo smoothly. I've never heard a sample of Blink-182 that is better than this. Looks like this is going down in the MUST DOWNLOAD category! Enjoy!

Matty Fee and the Gate City Squad are back with a realll smooth joint. I mean how can you not love a track with an intro sampling Remember The Titans. "Dreaming" is another gem of a track released from GCS. Absolutely loving the production on this track with the guitar, courtesy of Dana Brearly. Mixing a little hip-hop with rock, which is dope. GCS teams up with newcomer Jeff Blair, creating an overall great track. Great rhymes, smooth vocals, and dope production, that's just what Gate City Squad provides on the regular.

Doug Bogan - The World 'Round

Big ups to Ryan over at DirtyMexicanLemonade for sending this over. It's been a couple weeks since Doug has released any music but he is back with a bang. As soon as finals concluded, Doug whipped up this mashup, taking Swedish House Mafia's "Save the World", sure to a summer anthem (once it's officially released!) and combining it with an older summer party track, Flo Rida's "Right Round" to bring SHM's track to a new level.

So it looks like it's shaping up to be a day of introducing new talent to Stags Flow. Introducing Jacob Es, who is rapper currently attending school at the University of Vermont. He began to rap after his third elbow operation abruptly ended his collegiate baseball career, thus vaulting his focus on his rap career. On his debut mixtape "Stone Poets Society" (sponsored by the good folks over at FreshNewTracks.com), Jacob Es delivers an array of extremely dope tracks. From straight hip-hop bangers to smooth tracks you can just kick it too. Jacob Es has a unique flow and a delivery that will have you replaying his tracks over and over again. A new name to the game, but don't be surprised to see Jacob Es on music blogs across the country soon because he's ill.


In other Jacob Es news it's looking like his next mixtape is going to be produced by Stags Flow favorite Whole-Z, which is going to be dropping in the Fall. Dylan Owen - The Book Report

Got a brand new artist to the site today. Dylan Owen hails from a small town, Goshen, NY, and is currently a freshman at Cornell University (the place where Kinetics & One Love honed their skills).  His debut album Senioritis broke the Top 200 on Itunes last summer and he is currently working on his second album to be released this summer.    He's also been opening for some big names like Mac Miller, Tayyib Ali, Wiz Khalifa, Sam Adams, Chris Webby, Chiddy Bang, Spose, and Grieves as well as past collabs with Mac Leethal.


Dylan is definitely a new impressive rapper that I wish I had been introduced to earlier. On the track "The Book Report", Dylan provides an all-around dope track. From the smooth catchy chorus to the on-point lyricism, "The Book Report" is definitely success. To go with the theme of the track, Dylan spits rhymes that tell a story. What sets Dylan apart from the pack is his emotional and deep lyricism. He has a Macklemore-like delivery, Dylan Owen is definitely a rising star and unique to the rap game. Don't be surprised if you find him on Stags Flow more often!
